Frontiers doesn't release until the end of the year, and again, was just announced a month ago. Kirby is a few months away, so of course it'll get it's trailer, Pokemon is like less than a week away from releasing, and it got gameplay. Yes other games have been getting gameplay shown, good for them, but most of those games are literally months away from releasing. I understand the want for gameplay, hell literally everyday i wake up i look online to see if there's even a hint at when gameplay will be shown, but it's literally been a month since we've even figured out the games name. Breath of the Wild 2 took 2 years to show gameplay, we haven't even seen a single second of metroid prime 4 gameplay, bayonetta took years to show gameplay, and sonic frontiers officially gets announced last month, and it's seen as sonic team doesn't have faith in this game it's going to be just like Forces. The games announcement trailer came out literally a month ago and people are getting mad at the game for showing nothing. I just think people are being impatient at this point. It was just meant to place the idea of Frontiers in the back of their heads and it seemingly worked. The trailer at the game awards seemingly did its job: getting a bunch of people who probably aren't even Sonic fans interested to know more about the game. However, the reality of the situation is that what's best for us fans isn't necessarily best for the game itself. Yes, it would suck if we waited a whole bunch only for the game to look like crap. I understand being hesitant around this game, but I think some patience is needed here. First revealed during The Game Awards 2021. They took a risk on that because everyone was clamoring for news, and they wanted to reassure their audience that a new product was on its way.ĭo I want to see gameplay as soon as possible? Of course I do. Sonic Frontiers is the latest development from Sonic Team, and it’s looking to be the biggest game the studio has ever released. The teaser that was shown off at Sonic Central was confirmed to be revealed too early by Iizuka as well. It's also possible that the game needs a bit more polish until they feel confident in showing it off, but honestly I don't think they would show gameplay this early regardless of this point. It got shown off a bunch at gaming events and you could see people getting tired of seeing it everywhere. For example, this sort of happened with the game Deathloop. If they show a bunch of this game, the general public may get tired of seeing it. It's quite possible to oversaturate a product in the market, and while us fans want to know as much as possible, it's a bad thing for the general market. If they were showing us a bunch of gameplay this early on, it might not be the best thing for the game. Advertising is a tricky thing, and timing is necessary to factor in. Marketing is complicated, and I don't think Sega is ready to roll out their heavy marketing efforts for this game yet. It's very common for games not to show gameplay this far from release. Right now, I think it's too soon to declare it's the end of the world for them not showing gameplay yet. The trailer definitely appears to be going for a Breath of the Wild style vibe, with shots of Sonic looking out over vast landscapes, but we’ll have to wait for a proper gameplay reveal to see how big the scope of Sonic Frontiers actually is.The game still doesn't come out for almost a year. Sega didn’t show a real look at gameplay for Sonic Frontiers, which isn’t set to arrive until holidays 2022, but studio is promising “high velocity open-zone freedom,” which could indicate levels with more room to explore. Originally teased earlier in 2021 as part of Sega’s 30th anniversary celebration for the Sonic franchise, Sonic Frontiers is the first new Sonic game since the release of the much-maligned Sonic Forces in 2017 (which itself had been announced to celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary). But Sonic Team still is making another 3D Sonic game: Sonic Frontiers, which was formally announced with an early preview at the 2021 Game Awards.
